What is it?

The first Hospitality Kick-Off Summit will take a deep dive into the dynamic innovation taking place in hospitality— particularly as relates to the built world and the crossover between hospitality and real estate. Speakers will look at tech and innovation powering the growing intersection of multifamily, hotels, and short-term rentals. As major owners and operators change their strategies, new paradigms are emerging.

While most events focus either on technology, hospitality or real estate, we aim to break down those barriers and take a higher-level view, creating a novel and engaging block of content. Attendees come from tech start-ups, venture and private equity investors, hotel owners and operators, hotel and alternative accommodations brands, multifamily owners, property managers, and developers across hospitality, residential and mixed-use.

Austin co-founded Pacaso to make the dream of second home ownership a reality for more people after experiencing the profound effect it had on his own life. Pacaso is Austin’s second startup. In 2009, he founded dotloop in his hometown of Cincinnati, a company that created software to seamlessly manage real estate transactions. Zillow acquired dotloop in 2015, and Austin continued to run dotloop as a Zillow executive until 2018. Austin started selling real estate at the age of 18 and worked in residential and commercial real estate for a decade. Austin enjoys running, mountain biking and flying. He lives in Napa, CA with his wife Angela and their son.

Tyler Carrico is passionate about bridging the gap between traditional silicon valley technology and the hospitality, travel and real estate sectors which led him to co-found Derive Ventures. A firm dedicated to investing in the Derivatives of Travel and Hospitality with investments in companies like Mews, Canary Technologies, MarginEdge and Bilt Rewards. Prior to Derive, Tyler was an investment professional at Thayer Ventures and Thayer Ventures Acquisition Corporation. Tyler began his career in BoA Merril Lynch's Tech, Media and Telecom group. He graduated from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce.

Bryan is a graduate of Cornell University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration and concentration in real estate finance.

With a background as an architect-turned-investor and operator, David has a proven track record in partnerships, business building, theme development, sourcing, investments, and portfolio management. Roman was also an early team member at Juniper Square, a market-leading investment management platform, and was the founder of a startup called book.ly, a profitable, vertical e-commerce website that sold more than $15mm of textbooks.

Ms. Sexton is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is responsible for leading the development of Marriott’s Premium Full Service brands as well as JW Marriott and The Luxury Collection brands in the Eastern Region of United States. Ms. Sexton joined Marriott in 2015 and brings more than 20 years’ experience in the lodging industry with expertise in hotel development, transactions and finance. Ms. Sexton previously served as Vice President on Marriott’s Eastern Region team where she was responsible for hotel development for Marriott, JW Marriott, The Luxury Collection, Westin, Le Meridien, Renaissance, Sheraton, Delta Hotels, Autograph Collection, Tribute Portfolio, Design Hotels and Gaylord Hotels.
